TOP GROOMING REPORT

T.O.P. GROOMING RE’POR

Sunday January 8th

3″ of new snow is nice insulation for last week’s winter wheat planting.
…also nice surface to skitch around on while it lasts
three passes of corduroy out there but thin spots remain in all the usual places.
be careful out there…don’t forget to stop….and enjoy the peace.

TOP GROOMING REPOR’ DECEMBER 16, 2011–OPEN!!!

Just for grins I ran the groomer around a couple of times and then went skiing.
More like “skitching”.
It’s way thin so be really careful…..and don’t bring your $ 500 skating skiis.
Go to Lizard Head for good skiing….but if you just have to get out….TOP will get you there.

TOP OF THE PINES—”UPDATE”

TOP GROOMING RE’POR MAY (yes) MAY11, 2011

If this snow rate keeps up through the day T.O.P. should have enough base to
open for a new summer season.  See you up there.

T.O.P. Grooming Re’por 3/3/11

There’s an old groomer’s adage..or is it groomer’s old adage?… that goes:
If it’s white it’s alright,
If it’s blue so are you,
If it’s grey let it stay,
If it’s brown shut it down.
Well, It’s getting brown out there folks and unless we get that proverbial 6 inches, this may be the
last TOP grooming re’por of the 2010/11 season.
Historically we’ve pretty much been able to ski from Dec. 1 to March 15 up there.
This year we lost all of  December and now half of March……anomaly or trend?………
Anyway…thanks for all your support…It’s great to see all your smiling faces.
Your Faithful Polaris Driver

T.O.P. Grooming Re’por 2/20/11

1 1/2″ of new…just enough to resurface,

The Meadow loop may be blown in a bit
but the North Forty loop should be nice with
new classic and skating track.

T.O.P. Grooming Re’por Thurs. 2/17

Made a couple of passes around this morning with the Zamboni….much better now….

Yes it’s icy out there folks, especially early and late.
But, if you wait until mid day 11:30- 2:30, the track is quite agreeable.
Hoping for snow….

T.O.P. Gooming Re’por for Wed. 02/9/11

There’s always good news and bad news in a groomer’s life.

The bad news is that the Polaris has a broken steering column and will be down for a little while.

The good news is that John Kivenhoven was able to lay 12′ of corduroy down with his snowcat.

My apologies to the classic skiers, but the skating should be as good as it gets up there.

Hopefully I’ll have the snowmobile fixed by the weekend to set some tracks.

T.O.P. GROOMING RE”POR –February 1st, 2011

We’re back in business!

Nearly a foot of snow fell and it’s still snowin and blowin.

I tried grooming in whiteout conditions in the meadow…looks like inebriated route finding…

so will wait until tomorrow am (Feb 2nd) to polish the corduroy and lay the classics.

See you out there.

T.O.P. GROOMING RE’POR FRIDAY 1/14/11

We got about 1-1/2″ of new snow..that’s: 3.8 cm’s for the meter heads

It’s freshly groomed for skating and classic, but still very thin coverage.

Please be careful out there…keep an eye out for rocks, sticks, sagebrush and the Coen brothers.

Best skiing is around 10 am or at sunset (4:30 or so)

Top of the Pines

Did a quick loop at the track today.  It was fine… My cap is off to you Chris… Thanks…   The 10″ of snow we received was packed down to 4″ but if we can get another “north side storm” soon, we’ll be in much better shape… JR

TOP OF THE PINES GROOMING REPORT 1/10/11

T.O.P. is officially opened.

groomed for skating… SCRATCHY but definitely skiable…there’s a price we must pay for the view!

It’s going to be soft for a while: might be set up by 4:30 …for sure in am.

I’ll lay down some classic tracks after next snowfall…too thin right now.
