It took about a 2 ton jack just to lift one corner, those Checker bodies weigh tons. Once I rebuilt the drivetrain it would climb a wall pulling a house! It’s all restored and painted now and parked at the GI Hotel in Silverton. When I was working on it I consulted an old Checker factory guy and mentioned that the body had a lot of bondo on it and he said that they usually had several pounds when they left the factory new.”
