Kiitella projects: The American Alpine Club, American Mountaineering Museum, Oberalp Group & more

Kiitella had a busy winter/spring creating many recognition awards in addition to the skiing medals we posted… The Rōbert Report couldn’t keep up…

Here are 8 recent projects:

The American Alpine Club asked Kiitella to design the first 10-Year recognition award to be given to an AAC employee. Kiitella created a polished stainless steel “book” with the organization’s logo jet cut through the cover and hand-stamped recipient name on the inside. The thick steel plates feel substantial in the honored employee’s hand, yet it is small enough to pack up and transport (in its little black leather pouch) for the next venture.
The Hall of Mountaineering Excellence, of the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum, celebrates the achievements of American mountaineers on and off the mountain. In this year’s awards, Kiitella takes the new AMM logo into three dimensions with a steel mountain trophy. The inductee names stand proud on the front of the mountain, hand-stamped on pewter in bold letters, and riveted below the framed aluminum logo plate. Congratulations to the 2016 inductees: Hugh Herr, Libby Sauter, Tom Frost, John Roskelley, and Geoff Tabin.
Minimal yet sleek sales awards were created for the Oberalp brands: Salewa, Dynafit and Pomoca. Since all Kiitella projects are handbuilt and hand polished, each Top Gun award is unique in finish. The brand logos are “printed” on aluminum plate and framed by the steel, secured with the function and aesthetic of solid aluminum rivets. Kiitella loves rivets.
Congratulations Ridgway! Also the world headquarters of Kiitella… so this year’s Colorado Main Street of the Year award was especially exciting to create. Inspiration for the recognition award was only a few feet from Kiitella‘s studio window… Colorado’s graphically pleasing mountainscape license plate is rebirthed in satin-polished stainless steel, green wool felt, and a double layer of birch ply.
prAna’s logo worked beautifully with Kiitella‘s classic combination of steel, natural wool felt and bamboo to form one-of-a-kind sales awards.
A classic Kiitella little steel “book” seemed like the perfect way for Telluride Mountain School to recognize their honorees, and the school’s mountain logo easily informed the design direction. The inside reveals the recipients name and words of recognition on hand-stamped pewter.
Lisa Issenberg, the artist behind Kiitella, is honored to be The American Alpine Club’s go-to gal for all their recognition awards. The AAC thanked The North Face and REI, the presenters of their 2016 Annual Benefit dinner, with these custom-made  metal, felt, and bamboo laminated plaques.
The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance logo illuminated the direction to go for this recognition award… Keep it round and bold – with the classic Kiitella material fusion of satin polished jetcut stainless steel, natural wool felt and double-layered birch plywood.
