Gorge Gardner Fund Event

.

The George Gardner Scholarship Fund invites you to join us for an evening with Angela Hawse as she shares tales of travels and work on skis from Svalbard to Antarctica, and a race across Mongolia on a children’s motorcycle. Angela Hawse is an IFMGA Mountain Guide, President of the AMGA and long-time local whose office has the best views in the world. She has guided locally and globally for 35 years. The first mountain she ever climbed was in the San Juans Mountains. Her first ice climbing partner here was George Gardner, with whom she worked in the Tetons for 13 years. Since then she’s guided five of the Seven Summits, led 25 high altitude expeditions, and explored far reaches of the world for work and play. She’s witnessed climate change in the mountains first hand at alarming rates. Much of her work is focused on education and advocacy for mountain guides and youth, working with Protect Our Winters, founding the Ridgway Community Apiary, and most recently joining the Ridgway Sustainability Advisory Board.
